Adorable little place sharing space with a gas station. Go in anyway. It's a traditional "Mexican restaurant in America" place. Cultural decor, very delicious food at reasonable prices, fantastic service. The salsa here is spicy, yum!

If you are thinking of going here, DONT! This place is so gross. The chips had a rancid bitter chemical taste. Service was super slow and quesadilla was microwaved. Worst Mexican food I ever had.

I was visiting Denver for work and we heard about Carreta Vieja so decided to give it a try. What a great restaurant! There were 6 of us in the group and we ordered 6 different meals to share. All of them were delicious.....as were the top shelf margaritas!! The owner and staff were so attentive and treated us like family. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. Wonderful dining experience!

Only people in the restaurant. Waitress finally came to ask how things were, but others at table already done. When the order was not what I wanted, the waitress Christie, said "I have other tables" which actually consisted of 3 other people. Please don't make a mistake and then blame non-existent customers. She did offer to "take care of that" which I hope means we will not pay for her mistake. Will not be returning.

Hidden gem! Very delicious, authentic Mexican food. One of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. Atmosphere is perfect down to the last detail. Service was excellent!

BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN CONIFER!!! I went here for Valentine's day so it was a little busy but nothing they couldn't handle. Food was quick to arrive and was absolutely delicious. Awesome prices and great atmosphere.

Small tucked away Mexican restaurant connected to a discount petrol station. Very deceiving. Great tasting fish tacos, large portions, reasonably priced. Very clean and well kept. 👍👍

My sister who lives in Evergreen recommended this restaurant. Definitely had my doubts when she said it's part of a gas station. Growing up in San Diego I'm used to really good Mexican food. This restaurant is the best Mexican food I've had in the area, by far. Service is great too. Will definitely be back multiple times.

If you want a trip for some great Mexican Food at the foothills of Colorado this is the place! Being from Texas we definitely know GREAT Mexican food; the best Margaritas in the state. One of our favorite places to eat. Best margaritas!! I’m not sure what the one person who reviewed was talking about. This place under the new owner had the same chef. The food is FANTASTIC!! Who cares about the beans! Huge fan.

Horrible service, wrong orders, took 90 mins to get our food. Food was average . The ultimate margaritas are fantastic, I will go back just for those.

I have driven by this place thousands of times and I have never stopped in. I had heard good things, but just never went. Probably because I have to drive past 3 other Mexican restaurants to get there from my house. Everything (with one exception) was really good. Better food than the 3 I have to drive past. The only thing that didn't wow me was the house blended margarita. It was good, but not great. I didn't let that stop me from ordering a second one.

Get in here! You don't know what you're missing if you haven't already done so. Great food, nice folks and super margarita s. Try it you won't be disappointed.

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would have. Ordered a shrimp cocktail as soon as we sat down. After more than 10 minutes, the server finally told us it takes 15 minutes to make. When dinner finally arrived my husband's chili relleno was the size of a jalapeno, and his chimichanga was barely any bigger than the relleno. My quesadilla seemed like it was microwaved. It was soggy and tough. This was one of the most expensive Mexican restaurants I have ever dined at and the food was beyond horrible. Save your money and avoid this place!

I love hiking nearby and we decided to give this place a shot. So glad that we did! Great enchiladas. Service was pretty slow, but it was busy and that happens sometimes. I've already told my friends about it. <3

We absolutely love Carreta! My daughter loves the chicken quesadillas, the chips & salsa are very tasty, the employees are all so friendly and go above and beyond to satisfy special requests and provide great service! One of our favorite spots to dine.

What a great place. Greeted at the door like long lost friends, terrific salsa and the best real margarita I have ever had anywhere. Great and friendly service to boot. These folks are definitely something different than the run of the mill Mexican chow. We will be repeat customers for certain.

I have driven by this place so many times without ever giving it a chance. My brother was in town and wanted authentic Mexican. After looking at the reviews, I though it worth the chance. Boy am I glad I did. Service was outstanding. Our waitress was very attentive and food delivered promptly. I ordered the chimi combo plate. Very tasty and well prepared. My brother ordered a combo plate and was likewise pleased. Food tasted fresh and very well seasoned. Margarita was good and well mixed. The decor may not be restaurant chain worthy, but somehow that added to the ambiance. Everything including restrooms were very clean. In my option, this speaks of a family run business that cares about what they do. I would recommend you consider abandoning the Denver chains, and give this place a try. You might, like me, find a new favorite!

Hole in the wall, local favorite, great margaritas! Known locally as the Gas Station Mexican place, but once inside it's completely different. Nicely decorated and friendly staff, but the food is the draw. Do yourself a favor and find what the locals have known about for a while.

For me, the mexican dinners best part is the salsa. This place has the best, by far, salsa. Yum! Great salsa! We will just buy a big bag of chips and a large salsa to go. Huge portion and great price. The rest of the menu is great also.

Was hoping new management would be able to return CV to its former glory of awesome Mexican food. No luck. Beans were terrible, went downhill from there. That's said our server Kale was great and made a fantastic margarita.
